Dr. John Michael Stramat, 69, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 4, 1954, in Uniontown, PA, son of the late John and Susan (Adamik) Stramat.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Stramat. John grew up in Oliver, PA and was a 1972 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School where he was valedictorian.
He graduated in 1976 from Saint Vincent College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Highest Honors. He earned his Medical Degree from the Temple School of Medicine in 1980. John completed his residency at Mercy Hospital. He received Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1983. John started his career with Health America and then returned to Mercy Hospital where he was faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine. He was also the Assistant Director of Mercy's Internal Medicine Residency Program. He was in private practice with McAuley Medical Associates. John then worked for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare system for 10 years, and ended his career working with the Pennsylvania State Department of Corrections in 2020.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Judith Grace (Radecki) Stramat three daughters, Sarah Grace (Evan) DeAngelis, Debra Marie Stramat, Kayla Rose (Justin) Robinson and two grandsons, Luke and Leo, who lovingly knew him as Pap John. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lisa (Robert) Kronmuller, a niece Grace (Ryan) Marshall, and nephew William Kronmuller, as well as many cousins.
