| Peter Paul Kachur, 74, of Hopwood, Pa., died Monday, May 23, 2005, at home, with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 30, 1930, in Ralph, Pa., the son of the late Charles and Mary Wolenter Kachur. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, John and Mike; his sister, Irene Kuchta; his mother and father-in-law, Raymond Doce and Bernardina Doce; a sister-in-law, Edith Kachur; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Doce and Jack Marucci. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Frances Doce Kachur; his daughter, Carla Corna of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his sons, Paul Michael Kachur, Raymond Keith Kachur and Nicholas F. Kachur, all of Uniontown. He was the proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Rachel Marie Kachur and Francesca Corna. Also surviving are his brothers, Alex Kachur and wife, Marian of New Jersey, and Nicholas Kachur of Akron, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Porzucek and husband, Bernie of Jefferson, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Amelia Doce Marucci and LaRue Doce of Mentor, Ohio; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Uniontown Senior High School in the Class of 1949. Peter served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He returned home and earned his Bachelor Degree in Business & Administration & Education from Waynesburg College. He received his Masters Degree in economics from the University of Illinois, and a Masters Degree from West Virginia University in school administration. He retired with 35 years of service as a teacher and administrator for the Laurel Highlands School District. He was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 51, which he was Past Commander, and was also the Past Commander of the Fayette County American Legion, County Chairman of the Oratorical Contest, Chairman of The City Veteran Program for Veterans in Personal Care and Nursing Homes, a member of VFW Post 47, Elks, Catholic War Veterans and The Pa. State Education Retirees Association, and he also served on the Fayette County Sewage Authority Board. Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday morning until 10:30 a.m., when a Blessing Service will be held, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m., in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Wesdock as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery. Parastas Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. American Legion Post 51 will conduct services in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Catholic War Veterans will hold a ritual in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the American legion Post 51 and the VFW Post 8543. |
